Have an Xbox One but want to get in on some sweet sweet Game of Thrones or True Detective (season 1 at least)? Well, right now HBO’s standalone app is only available for Chromecast and Apple TV. To learn how to stream it on Chromecast check out our post here.
But never fear, there is still another way to get HBO on your shiny new Xbox One.
Guide: How to stream HBO on Xbox One
The trick here is to use the service called SlingTV. SlingTV is a paid service that allows you to watch live television programs from many popular networks like ESPN, Food Network, HGTV, TBS and more. As part of their paid offerings, SlingTV has an HBO add-on for an extra $15 a month! This includes the video on demand option as well.
Keep in mind that this won’t be a super cheap choice, as the base SlingTV package (with 20 channels) is already $20. But if you’re thinking of already going down the SlingTV path, adding HBO in there is a really great idea (at least until HBO Now comes to Xbox One).
Happy cord cutting!
